59. see you next year

after just finishing up in the studio and the it being the holidays and stuff, we've all been very "lazy" and everybody's been doing their own thing. we're going to take the rest of this year off and we'll continue blogging and being more responsive on myspace in 2008.

see you tuesday... enjoy the rest of your year.

58. eve

today was a lovely day filled with seafood...shrimp, scallops, clams, salmon, (i only ate the shrimp and salmon) and yet another cookie cake. that's like 2 within a months time. crazy.

our latest studio endeavor was musically draining and somewhat stressful... there was a pivotal moment where we had already been there for a week, we had a nearly completed song... and we all just looked at each other with the same thought, "We could do this a lot better." so we decided to write off a lot of what we had already done as producer/artist getting familiar with each other, and basically start over with the drum track. within 2 days we had turned the song into a completely new and exciting creature. it was unreal, but we all felt the pressure.

i'm going to live out this week not even thinking about music and come back full strength in 2008. the new year will hopefully bring new ideas and new opportunities for our band. it will at least bring a new CD! i promise you that. it's awesome to have you guys following us via blogs through the boredom and the excitement.

merry christmas or whatever holiday you already celebrated or will celebrate this month.

enjoy!

57. eve eve

went to the mall again yesterday... second biggest in the country, the palisades. parking was an absolute nightmare. i was with my sister and her friends and we got nothing done. the mall kiosk people were extremely annoying, but i let one of them straighten my hair cuz she was cute... apparently that straightener doesn't damage your hair... great.

went out and drank too much... i didn't even mean to, but now i hurt.

and yes egg yolks do have the cholesterol, but cholesterol is misunderstood. just cuz u eat it, doesn't mean it's the bad stuff that is clogging up your veins. there's so many other goodies in the yolk... i can't explain it cuz i don't get it... but peeps say that whole eggs are good so i believe them.

tomorrow's my last shot at getting gifts... i'm gonna make a list!

56. humbug

went down and got the final mixes today! hooray... now we have to give em to our label peeps and see what they think, but the entire industry shuts down for the holidays so we'll have to wait till next year. we mixed an acoustic version of it too... it's sexy.

stopped at a jersey mall on the way home... bought a few things for myself... still nothing for anybody else... maybe tomorrow i'll figure that all out. just got in from a really lame night out. this town is poopy... i want out!

panicatthedicso.com is so cool... i have no idea what this is but it's awesome and they've got me hooked.

55. dont drop the yolk!

i was in deep slumber on my couch upstairs until i was woken up by the faint chatter of greg talking to bendeth about the mix being done. so i came down to listen, but the file was three and a half minutes of silence... anti-climatic as some would say.

today i tagged along w/ greg all day while he shopped and i tried figuring out what i was going to shop for. i'm going to take that quest tomorrow at some point. we went with our friend chris who just came back from australia... he was there for 5 months sleeping in a tent in the wild... the kids a nut... he hunts snakes and stuff...

oh wait now we have a file... and it's friggin awesome. yeah... i'm not sure when we're allowed to post this or make it available... we'll keep you in the loop. now we gotta go back to the studio for one last day and make some tweaks tomorrow. that's all i got.

egg yolks aren't bad for u

54. mix that shhh...!

alright so maybe i've tainted the name daily blog... but you shouldn't take everything we say so literally! geesh... anyway... we finished up recording the single in the studio today. we all went home feeling really great about the track. dave mixes it tomorrow and we get to hear the final product. these last 3 days have been vital. it was like we smeared glue all over the song and everything just sealed up really nicely. i hope people actually play it. now i have to figure out what i'm supposed to buy people for christmas.

thank u nikki and lisa for the holiday card!
and thanks nurseda for the absurd amount of steak today!

the studio had this Adam's Family pinball machine that we all became addicted to. now i'm in the market for one for the house. congrats to greg for attaining the band high score for the week.

what should we do for new years????

48. 49. 50. 51. 52. 53. oops

sorry we haven't been keeping up... studio life has been JAM packed... especially when trying to get a song done in a timely fashion. we basically wake up early, drive to jersey to the studio, stay there till 2 in the morning, drive back, and sleep... there's no time for anything but studio and sleep!! we should have been done with the song by now but we're going to take the next 3 or so days to try some new stuff and polish up some loose ends. dave has been cool enough to offer that to us. SO in a few hours we head back to mess around... we really wanna nail it. i'm losing weight in the studio cuz i forget to eat... and when i do remember to eat it's mostly crap like lays chips to keep the vocals greasy.

anyhoo... i'll try and keep up with you guys. it's been hectic

do the giants squander the playoffs in their final 2 games? probably.

47. Studio Day 1

chad (drummer) from breaking benjamin is an animal... bendeth is also an animal... a crazy animal too, but it adds character to the studio experience. we sat in that rehearsal room for what seemed like a small eternity and just went over all sorts of different scenarios for how the song should go. we were scolded quite a bit (adam the most)... BUT the drums are now done... they sound sooo yummy. the song is definitely different... on the "more" side rather than less, but it's gonna be good i promise. now i go to sleep and wake up and do it all over again.... for 4 more days. i can't even imagine when you're in the studio for 4+ months straight doing a record. make sure to come to our myspace and watch us live on the webcam throughout the entire week. we should have sound the entire time tomorrow.

cya then!

46. Studio Day 0

i woke up really early this morning tossing around unable to get back to bed. so many thoughts are running through my head about what this week is going to bring. it seems like the next 5 days of my life have a lot of bearing on the rest of it. i'm nervous and i'm hopeful and i'm excited and i'm scared. i just wanna pop in the song right now and listen to what we've done, but we didn't do anything yet...

shower time, then show time!

45. giants v eagles

a big rivalry is about to go down. greg is an idiot eagles fan and i am a giants fan. they are playing each other in 2 minutes so i have to make this quick. adam is coming over in a little bit also to work on "these are the nights" and another song we've been working on. we have so much built up material i feel like we're going to explode... i just wanna put something out already!!! we're bringing kurt into the studio this week to get some money footage of us, so not only will we be LIVE at times, but we'll have a nice vblog and the end of it all.

i think we're webcasting tonight too so be there... 9pm.

+44. CONFIRMED!... i think.

i know we've been dragging this out for a little while now, but it's finally become real to us. starting monday (for about a week) we will be recording "these are the nights" over again so it can sound pretty for the radio. we've got a million different ideas for what to do with it. it may only transform a little, maybe a lot... if you end up saying "i like the old one better," then it's a good thing you have the old one to listen to!! ;) since we are without a drummer, we will be using the drummer from breaking benjamin to play on the track. the kid is nasty (good). we will also get the privilege to watch two string players from the new york symphony orchestra play over the song. watching is awesome in the studio... especially when you're watching good things happen to your song. all of this pretty much came together tonight, two days before recording, in typical 'making april' procrastinative fashion (that's not a word but i've got poetic license)... anyway, i'm going to practice up my piano skills... see what i can add to this endeavor.

wish us luck!

43. chicken catchatori

i've been trying to start this blog for the last hour but i've been wasting my time watching episodes of I Love New York. this show is so bad but somehow im addicted to it in this very moment. earlier tonight we had seans family over to celebrate his bday (2 weeks belated). we then proceeded to eat a giant chocolate chip cookie.

over the past few months i noticed that i was taking the band for granted. ever since i graduated college, i've been blessed not to have to work a real job. unfortunately waking up everyday without a set direction/goal can grow old quite quickly. so recently i started applying for jobs. i feel that if i work throughout the week, i won't be as bored and i'll appreciate my time with the band much more; maybe ill even learn some discipline. i always had internships with bristol myers-squibb (pharmaceutical company) throughout high school and college but i didn't really enjoy it there.... i have a bunch of contacts in the music industry but i wouldn't mind working in the interactive media world. i'm not really sure what that means, but it sounds cool and i hear theres money in it. im a bit of a computer nerd, so anything digital will probably work.

ill keep you updated when i finally choose a direction. till then, we start in the studio on monday with the man, the myth, the legend.... mr. david bendeth. i'll definitely be webcaming live from inside the control room, so be ready:)

42. on the VERGE

sorry i passed out early last night... i THINK we're going into the studio monday. if this is true then that means greg gets to have fun w/ the live (in-studio) web cam next week. we're still waiting on some lawyer/label/producer conversation to be finalized and then we're rolling.

41. over the hedge

last night we watched a very amusing animated movie, over the hedge. dreamworks know what's going on. i was somewhat jealous of ben folds getting to write all of the music for it, but i guess those opportunities come with success! i have a bunch of free songs in my itunes account so i'm buying some old ashlee simpson hits... cuz they're genius.

i'm going to finish this tea and sing a little. give the neighbors something to wake up to... oh and if you buy a lime green shirt from us and obnoxiously feature it in a myspace pic, we'll top friend you. it'll look flashy! get on it!!

40. dont start a band

the music industry is dying and nobody really wants to buy a CD anymore. labels don't know how to solve this problem, so they just wanna buy bands that are doing well already and have their shit together. nobody will make an investment and develop an artist cuz it's too risky. if you have talent and good songs, but no money, nobody will be able to see through your crappy recordings and give you a chance... assuming you even know the right person to give your music to. if you actually do get a chance to show what you can do, hopefully you have enough knowledge and pretty-sounding instruments to override some craphole nyc venue and a d-bag sound guy who doesn't give an f about your band. this all takes money. thousands of dollars on recording songs and the right gear so that you can recreate what you've recorded. so... if you've proven somehow being unsigned that your music can sell, proven that your songs are good enough to show your future worth, and put on a halfway decent show, maybe somebody will take a shot on you. at this point (actually months before this point) you'll need a lawyer or management cuz you dont know a damn thing about what you're doing. you think you're going to negotiate a deal by yourself? you'll get raped. plus they're the only ones that can introduce you to the important people who might further your career (if they like you). so pay all of them a percentage of your gross earnings while you invest all of the hard-earned money that you actually DO see back into the band, because you want it to grow. now if you've made it to a label that hasn't dropped you already or gone under, you're doing well... just sit and wait for people to make decisions for you, and pray that somehow you become effing HUGE so you can actually sustain life by playing music, cuz if you dont get big, you wont see money. if you were big before this point in time, congrats on making it. if you want to start now, good luck breaking through, but be prepared for quite a struggle. somehow we made it to the praying stage, and it took a lot of lucky rolls to get here. we quit like 4 times along the way... but it was fun... i think.

reel big fish is funny too...

39a. back to the future

so tonight was our first attempt at a live webconcert. some of you may have expierenced technical difficulties... i apologize for these. it turns out we were streaming the video at too high of a rate. after further testing, we may have solved the problem. also, the sound was missing for the first half of roses and butterflies... this is because i forgot to turn the sound on. my badd yall.

with all the problems aside, jump in sounded pretty good. so expect that in the future.

prior to the webjam (i call it something different every time), we had a sweet turkey dinner over at seans aunts. his cousins kelsey and kaitlyn are the shit (they paid me to say that) and the stuffing turned out amazing. apparently its made from hot dog buns, french onion soup, and some other random vegetables. i normally hate stuffing but if u ever get your hands on aunt colleens recipe, i highly reccommend it.

ok ill stop here since sean is writing too.

ps Mystery is the new fad
-------------------------------------------------
greg is an idiot and skipped 38... therefore we will not call upon 40 prematurely, but give 39 twice the fame. f*** 38 i guess.

i find it very odd when the web cam gets to be delayed about 4 or 5 minutes. it's like we're living in the future and nobody else knows what's going to happen until they catch up to us, but even then they've never caught up... we're always miles ahead in our own world. it feels as if talking or doing anything is just pointless because by the time you hear the words that i've said, they just dont matter anymore. every time i would think to say something i would look at the camera, see myself 4 minutes ago and think, "oh crap they can't even hear me cuz we're in the future"... but the truth was... soon you'd hear me... soon you would hear everything.

creepy.

kefir anyone? sean

39. sega + d-cross

So I'm chillin with my boy Sega (coolest name ever) winding down after a freezing night in nyc. My face might fall off. Earlier today sean and i were in the studio wrapping up the mixing to "So Bad". The song sounds pretty solid, so i think theres a good chance we'll be posting it. Afterwards we went out for pizza (the first of 3 pizza meals today) then sat around my bros apartment waiting to go out. We bar hopped for awhile, ran into David Cross (IMDB him), spent a ton of money on beer ($6 a beer in nyc) then ended up at the diner around 3am. I think sean ate 4lbs of cheese in the last 8 years yet some how he always has abs! <--bastard

Tomorrow we're hittin urban outfitters to return some jeans then back home to get ready for this live acoustic webshow at 9pm. So don't forget! Be here and be ready to make some passionate love. 9pm Eastern Standard Time

Stay sexy,

37. New Leaf

i have to catch a train soon to nyc. today we mix a demo and i decide if it's crappy enough to keep from all of you... chances are it will be and i apologize in advance, but this gives us all much more to look forward to.

last night i was colder than i've been yet this young winter and now i have a serious objective to come home with a jacket that actually keeps me warm. i saw something nice and blue last time i was down at urban outfitters, but i was too scared to pull the trigger. i hope it's still available.

there's a new amazing tea at the deli near us called "new leaf." it is love.

that's it! sean
